Marc Lauzier grew up right here in Timmins after moving to the community in 1974. A graduate of Thériault High School and Cambrian College, Marc built a distinguished 30+ year career in mining, working his way up from geological technician to General Manager and Vice President for major operators like Placer Dome, Goldcorp, and Newmont. Throughout his career, Marc has managed large-scale budgets and multidisciplinary teams across every phase of industrial development.
Marc is a remarkably generous man, giving freely of his time, his advice and financial support. He has contributed to several organizations, including Scouting, hockey, the Knights of Columbus, Fanconi Canada. In his free time, he enjoys swimming and is a passionate skier. Today, Marc and his wife Michelle are proud parents and grandparents. Marc remains consistently available and present for his family, friends and community. Marc is keeping his focus firmly on building a stronger, safer, and more accountable future for Ward 5 and all families in the City of Timmins.

Cutting Red Tape for Local Businesses:
Modernize municipal laws and bylaws to encourage secondary support businesses to move to Timmins, preventing services from being handled remotely.
Smart Housing & Upgrades:
Develop new areas for housing while considering both affordable and high-quality apartments and condos that are secure and accessible. This could provide more opportunities for local retirees to downsize while freeing up housing stock and minimizing the spread of municipal services.
Targeted Health & Support Services:
Address homelessness and the less fortunate by properly distinguishing between mental health and substance abuse needs, securing more treatment facilities, and establishing a permanent, committed housing location.
Strong Municipal Enforcement:
Maintain city safety by ensuring proper municipal budgets to support robust local law enforcement.
Industry-Grade Resource Efficiency:
Apply industry continuous improvement systems to use tax dollars efficiently, such as right-sizing vehicles on less busy transit routes to save on fuel.
Responsible Infrastructure Upgrades:
Prioritize and responsibly build out needed upgrades for aging rinks and pools, while expanding facilities to accommodate growing sports like cricket and pickleball.
Private & Semi-Private Partnerships:
Consider alternate sources of funding, including private or semi-private partnerships, to help fund and operate recreational facilities without overextending city resources.

Residents want to be heard and deserve a proper channel to voice their concerns. Many in our community are frustrated and looking for meaningful change. In my years of management, I learned early on that even difficult or bad news can be accepted when it is communicated with honesty and clarity
Right now, our community communication planning falls short. I am committed to finding better ways to gather direct input from residents and, crucially, deliver transparent feedback to you. Every resident deserves to know that their issues are not just heard, but are being actively addressed.
